The fact is, skin is the largest organ in our body. It is our protective covering and shield from unwanted germs from entering our body. It regulates body temperature and plays a good part in maintaining our immune system. It is therefore important that we keep our skin healthy. Here are 5 easy tips in improving skin health.
Improve your diet
By eating the right food and having a balanced meal would mean your body getting the vitamins and minerals it needs in order to maintain your skin health. Eat foods that are rich in Vitamin A, C, D, B1. B3 and B6. Aside from watching what you eat, make sure that your body gets a sufficient amount of water intake too.
Stop your vices
Alcohol and smoking will not do your skin any good. Chronic drinking can cause your oil glands and blood vessels to grow in size therefore resulting to bigger skin pores. Smoking can also turn your skin into an unhealthy color.
Manage your stress level
Stress can trigger acne or pimple breakouts and you can develop skin ailments. When you are under stress, you also tend to develop unhealthy habits such as lip biting. Make time for you to unwind, relax and do the things that you enjoy doing.
Treat your skin well
Check the skin products that you use and make sure that they are not too strong. Use moisturizer and/or sunscreen as necessary. Improve your hygiene. Wash your face when you wake up and before going to bed. Remove all your make up.
Always get a good night sleep
This is very basic but it is when we sleep that the skin produces collagen. Collagen helps in renewing the skin cells therefore making your skin look firm and supple. It is also when we sleep that our bodies produce growth hormones that is necessary in cell and tissue repair. These things help prevent stretchmarks and after a good night’s rest, you will feel good and most importantly your skin will look better.
